Getting Away: 75 Practices for Finding Balance in Our Always-On World
I had the opportunity to illustrate upwards of 500 illustrations for Getaway House's newest book. A Penguin Random House publication, Getting Away: 75 Practices for Finding Balance in Our Always-On World was printed and sold on large platforms (such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble) in the summer of 2020. As we all know, that time was stressful and challenging to say the least, but this book couldn't have come out at a better time. This creative and helpful book is centered around Getaway's core values of unplugging, slowing down, and living life free of distraction and full of intentionality.

Getting Away—written by Jon Staff, founder of Getaway—is a guide to daily unplugging and reconnecting with what really matters.

Throughout this year-long project, I worked closely with Getaway's brand lead, creating hundreds of vector-based illustrations that connected with and enlivened the text. Getaway's designer came to me to request my work on this project because she stumbled across line-based illustrations I had showcased on the Noun Project.
The Getaway team generously gave me the creative freedom to read the text and decide which parts and subjects were most important to highlight through visuals. It is extremely exciting to not only see my work published, but also to be a part of a book/company that I genuinely love and have found to be so helpful and refreshing.
